We are excited to announce that Magicnet is here. This marks the rollout of MagicBlock’s self-served phase to the broader ecosystem, signaling a turning point that heralds the start of third-party rollouts, staking (coming soon!), and real decentralization in motion.
MagicBlock has been live for some time for whitelisted projects, quietly powering real-time applications on Solana through Ephemeral Rollups. With Magicnet, we’re opening that performance layer to the world. Phase 2 is not just a product launch, it’s a shift in ownership: from MagicBlock-run infrastructure to a distributed, collaborative network of developers and partners.
Our roadmap is unfolding across three phases. Each step expands participation, distributes trust, and deepens the foundations for a decentralised, real-time future. Our vision is to build a real-time, decentralized network to supercharge Solana applications and this phase marks an important step towards this ultimate goal.
Phase 1: Whitelist Access Only, Operated by MagicBlock
Phase 1 has been running quietly for some time.
Ephemeral Rollups have been live on mainnet, powering real-world applications with infrastructure operated by MagicBlock. This foundational phase gave us the control to move fast, fine-tune real-time performance, and tackle key challenges like dynamic routing, state delegation, and on-demand cloning, whilst minimising latency.
While access to Phase 1 was whitelist-only, it was intended to be production-ready from day one, with teams already building and generating revenue.
By operating the validators directly, we ensured quicker feature releases and a stable network that offers:
- Sub-50ms global latency through on-demand runtimes close to users
- Seamless integration with Solana’s global state and composability
- Stability and speed for early adopters shipping high-performance apps
This phase laid the groundwork. Now, we expand the network and sprinkle on some real-time magic.
Phase 2: Magicnet - Self-Serve Integration
Phase 2 starts now. Welcome to Magicnet.
Magicnet signals the start of our self-serve rollout to the broader ecosystem. It also marks a shift from a MagicBlock-operated network to a distributed network of technically aligned partners.
In this phase, builders no longer need direct support from the MagicBlock team to get started. You can integrate with MagicBlock right away, without waiting for permission or coordination. This lowers the barrier to entry and accelerates adoption because fast builders shouldn’t be bottlenecked by internal roadmaps.
We have several partners already live on Mainnet, running their own Ephemeral Rollups and shipping real-time applications on MagicBlock.
Phase 2 introduces:
- Self-serve infrastructure: introducing the ability for builders to independently integrate with MagicBlock
- MagicBlock and third party-run nodes, with early staking requirements rolling out as part of Phase 2
- Expansion of partner use cases across DeFi, gaming, and social
This is a turning point as MagicBlock opens up to every builder, accelerating the development of real-time apps and games on Solana.
Phase 3: Permissionless and Fully Decentralised
Phase 3 will mark the transition to a permissionless, fully decentralised network.
While builders can already integrate with MagicBlock independently in Phase 2, this next stage opens up broader validator participation. It will introduce permissionless validator onboarding and fraud-proof enforcement bringing the full architecture into the hands of the community.
Exact timing will depend on the readiness of the protocol and ecosystem. But as the network matures, our focus shifts to opening access, strengthening accountability, and ensuring sustainability through decentralised operation.
Key milestones for Phase 3 will include:
- Validator onboarding without permission
- Dynamic fraud-proofs, Staking and slashing mechanisms for trust enforcement
This is where MagicBlock evolves from a performant to a fully decentralised layer, built by and for the ecosystem.
Why This Roadmap Matters
MagicBlock is already powering real-time apps on Solana. Now we’re opening the network to more builders, and setting the stage for full decentralisation.
If you're building fast, trustless, high-performance apps on Solana, MagicBlock gives you the edge, with infrastructure that’s built for speed, composability, and global scale.
We’re building the next layer of Solana-native infrastructure, and the best part is still ahead.
Let’s build the future of onchain. Let’s sprinkle on some real-time magic.
