Interstellar Command Has Entered Orbit - And It's Fully OnChain

A new real-time strategy game just launched on MagicBlock, and it’s breaking all the assumptions about what’s possible onchain.

Interstellar Command is a fast-paced multiplayer card battler where every move is a transaction, every match runs on a validator, and every win is sealed in block history. It’s built with MagicBlock’s Ephemeral Rollups, showing what happens when you throw out the compromises and go all-in on performance.

Not Your Average Crypto Game

Interstellar Command  was built to show the true potential of blockchain gaming. And it feels like a real game.

Think mobile polish, zero-lag gameplay, and seamless wallet integration, all while running fully onchain. It’s a true real-time multiplayer experience. The Secret Sauce: Ephemeral Rollups

Here’s how it works under the hood

When you start a match, the game spins up a short-lived rollup dedicated to that session. A validator picks it up and runs all game logic in real time. When the match ends, the final result is posted back to Solana.

This offloads heavy computation without giving up trustlessness. The main chain stays light, validators stay fast, and the player gets an experience that feels indistinguishable from a traditional online game.

No delays or confirmations, just seamless gameplay.

Clash Royale Meets Space Invaders

At its core, Interstellar Command is a lane-based battler with a sci-fi twist.

Players control a trio of capital ships, then play cards to spawn units, trigger abilities, and push toward their opponent’s fleet. Every match is a race of reactions and strategy, where tactical timing decides who wins.

  • Choose from prebuilt decks
  • Play PvP in real time or challenge friends in private lobbies
  • Queue in from anywhere - your closest validator handles the load
  • Bots are coming soon, so solo play isn’t far off

Future updates will introduce card packs, upgrades, and passive abilities to deepen the meta. The bones are already strong. What comes next is player expression and long-term progression.

Why Fully Onchain?

Because the game you’re building shouldn’t vanish when your server does.

When a game runs fully onchain, it’s no longer just software, it’s infrastructure. The rules, the assets, the state - everything is permanent, permissionless, and composable. There's no backend to maintain or gatekeepers to appease. And the best part is that no one can shut it down or lock others out.

That means anyone can build on top:

Mods, expansions, tools, integrations, whatever they want, without needing your approval. Your game becomes part of the ecosystem, not just a product.

So why aren't there more fully onchain games? The reality is that most infra can’t handle real-time gameplay. But that's where Ephemeral Rollups come in.

They give you the speed of a server, the guarantees of a chain, and the freedom to build a game that’s unstoppable from day one.

A Different Take on Onchain Gaming

Most onchain games today tend to favor turn-based mechanics or simplify gameplay to accommodate the constraints of existing infrastructure. This approach is understandable, as real-time interaction has always been a challenge onchain.

Interstellar Command explores what happens when that limitation is removed.

By building fully onchain with real-time performance in mind, it shows a quieter shift: that you can keep the openness and permanence of blockchain, without giving up the feel of a modern multiplayer game.

It’s not trying to reinvent gaming. It’s just showing that the chain can keep up.
